Badminton has its roots in ancient games that have been popular in different cultures around the world. One of the earliest forms of the game was "battledore and shuttlecock," which was popular in China, Japan, India and Greece. In this game, rockets (battledore) and darts (shuttlecock) were used, and the goal was to keep the fly in the air for as long as possible.

In the 19th century, British officers stationed in India came into contact with a local game called "Poona." This game was similar to a battledore and shuttlecock, but had more organized rules and was played on the court. Officers brought the game to England, where it was unveiled at the Badminton House in Gloucestershire. It was from this estate that the game took its name.

The first official badminton rules were established in 1877 by the Bath Badminton Club. In 1893, the Badminton Association of England was founded, which began to host national championships. In 1934, the International Badminton Federation (IBF) was founded, which is now called the Badminton World Federation (BWF).

Badminton has grown in popularity worldwide, and in 1992 it was included in the Barcelona Olympics program. Since then, badminton has become one of the most dynamic and exciting Olympic sports, attracting players and supporters from different corners of the world.

Today, badminton is grown both recreationally and professionally, and its popularity continues to grow. It is a sport that combines speed, agility and precision, offering unforgettable emotions for both players and spectators.
